The basis for this information can be found in the book “Mental Science” By Emma Curtis Hopkins
The word “God” is a statement of being. God is the first idea. God is the greatest power known by man.
God is and was the beginning of all. God is in and through the presence of all.
God is Spirit. Ms. Hopkins states that since God is Spirit, when we study the meaning behind the word “God,” we are studying the SCIENCE OF SPIRIT. We open the reasoning with the word “God.”
The name of God also represents the Intelligence which, out of its own substance, bestowed upon you that intelligence you now have.
She writes, “Intelligence is Mind.” So as we study the word “God,” we are beginning the study of Mind.
By Mind (the Mind of God) we are taught to live, be strong and know that we are supported and defended. As we continue on this metaphysical journey we become self aware on several points. The first point is that by the words that proceed from the mouth of GOD, we are to live.
We know this point – because Jesus Christ taught this. While ministering to his angels he stated, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
This can be interpreted in various ways and in traditional communities has sometimes taken a very literal translation. Ms. Hopkins translation is more in line with the Aramaic text translation of this statement.
The word “bread” means word. The overall meaning of the above statement demonstrates that God gives freely from his MIND words that will make us spiritually alive. God’s word is the word that will keep life in the body. “He that eateth of this bread (word) shall live forever.”
To know and understand the word “God” is to realize that our life needs no material or physical effort to keep going. If we could meditate and understand that to have a relationship with God means we have no other need. GOD is our GOOD. Our GOOD is GOD. This statement appears so simple – but it is complex at best to understand how inclusive it is as we come up with our needs and daily life challenges. To know and concentrate on God is to realize that we have no needs. We have nothing to defend. We have no worries. We only need to be aware that we have it all when we have the true Word of God.
The Word of God is truth. God works only in Truth. This statement, again, is difficult to comprehend. We have lived so much in the material world, the world of disease, unhappiness, challenges due to error in thought that these have become our truths. To hear the statement that God is truth and God works only in Truth often works against a train of thought or mindset that has become a pattern of living. So we must work hard to challenge the material thoughts and focus on the truth.
The truth is – we are made in the image and likeness of God.
There can be no sickness in God. There can be no lack (of anything) in God
.
There can be no hate in God.
The above material conditions are from material thoughts and the solution, though simple, is difficult at best for most.
If we concentrate on God – if we meditate on God – the material conditions will slowly move into the nothingness from whence they came.
Are we willing to do the work? What are you seeking?
Is your mind in tune with the Mind of God?
You must be seeking Good at all times. Everything in life, everything in the universe, is seeking its Good. God wants you to have your Good. Ms. Hopkins writes, “Everything moves and waits for its GOOD. So you see that the GOOD draws everything.
The GOOD which you and I want governs everything we do. Therefore the GOOD which you are seeking is your GOD.
Ms. Hopkins used the statement, “MY GOOD IS MY GOD.” Her affirmation clearly states the truth about us all. “I am seeking my GOOD, and my GOOD is my GOD.
This is really powerful. This statement when stated as an affirmation will train the mind from the material or Adam mind to aspects of divine mind or spiritual mind.
The first name of GOD is GOOD, and the first name of GOOD is GOD.
Now, say your are seeking perfect health, let’s use Ms. Hopkins affirmation.
I am seeking my GOOD. My GOOD is my GOD. My GOOD is perfect health. You are metaphysically stating that GOD represents perfect health. You are in the MIND of GOD therefore you demonstrate perfect health.
Let’s try this again and say you’re seeking freedom. I am seeking my GOOD. My GOOD is my GOD. My GOOD is my Freedom. Here again, is not GOD freedom? With GOD, we are free from every material desire, every financial burden, and every distracting relationship.
It is suggested that we use this affirmation weekly until we are one with our GOOD, which is GOD. The unconscious truth is – there is GOOD for me and I ought to have it.
