Oscar Grant, certified Chaplin, licensed spiritual counselor and pulpit minister discovered the “New Thought” movement while pursuing a theatre career in New York. He attended classes and services at the Lincoln Center Unity Church with the great and renowned mystic and spiritualist Eric Butterworth. This movement truly gave him, as Butterworth calls it, “an insight in truth.”
Dr. Grant’s career moved him to Los Angeles and after searching and attending many different metaphysical centers, he was led to the Proud Bird Restaurant where a famous singer had begun a new church. In 1987, Oscar met the mystic and master teacher Rev. Dr. O. C. Smith and became a serious student of Religious Science.
In 2003, Oscar entered the ministerial program at City of Angeles, and concurrently entered the PhD program of the University of Sedona. He was in the last graduating class at City of Angels and graduated with honors from the University of Sedona.
During his studies, his interests deepened in “old time metaphysics,” and the pioneers in the New Thought movement. In particular, the work of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby, sometimes known as the father of New Thought, moved him to journey to Alberta, Canada for ten days to study his original papers on healing and the mind. He next joined a Christian Science Church for six months and attended weekly prayer meetings to embrace and understand the hidden meanings of Mary Baker Eddy’s writings. In the summer of 2005, he attended the New Thought Alliance four-day intensive in London on the writings of Emma Curtis Hopkins.
In the spring of 2006, began studies with a Rabbi in Georgia and starting researching the Zohar and Torah to understand Jewish mysticism. He continues his studies with the rabbi to this day.
He speaks regularly in both Los Angeles and Atlanta and recently spoke at the Metaphysical Center in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2007, he received his second PhD in Divinity, this time from Emerson University. In January of 2010 he will open a mystery school in Marietta, GA where he now resides. Spreading Peace and Love Ministries is an extension of the forthcoming mystery school.
Peace
